Simulation Case

The Simulation Case form consists of steps concerning the general setup of the simulation case. In this form the active case is selected (this can be an existing case, a new case or an imported case), a 3D grid scenario is connected, and a case and state can be selected if using a restart case.

  1. Select, create or import a simulation case.  In this step an active case is selected for the simulation. In addition to existing cases, you may create or import a case as well. When creating or importing a case, the case becomes the active simulation case by default.

Select an existing simulation case  Select the case which all operations will act on. The list of cases includes only those in the current case folder.

Create a new simulation case  Create a new empty case, named ‘tNavigatorCase 1’ in the current simulation case folder. The case can be renamed by double clicking the case name in the Case Explorer.

Import a simulation case  Imports an tNavigator™ case from an existing deck.

Create grid on import   Creates a simulation grid upon successful import of the case.

Create wells on import   Creates wells upon successful import of the case.

Create case / Import case  Depending in the Select/Create/Import selection you made, this button will read Create case or Import case. Click to create a new, empty case, or to open the Import tNavigator Deck dialog.

  2. Select 3D grid. Connects the simulation case to a 3D grid.

3D grid  Select the 3D grid you want to use in the simulation.

  3. Specify start date. Set the simulation start date.
  4. Edit general settings. Click the Edit settings button to open the General Settings View for the active simulation case. Inspect and edit settings if necessary.
  5. Select a restart state (optional). A restart state from a base simulation case is selected. The simulation case must be in the same simulation case folder as the current simulation case.

Source case  The simulation case that created the restart state. The simulation case must be in the current simulation case folder.

Starting state  The source case might have one or more starting states. This combo box is used to select among the available starting states.
